If I’ve learned anything in the past two months, it’s that I gravely underutilized the city I live in.

After attending 37 events in the past two months, here is everything I’ve learned from finding, organizing, and tracking the ones that were worthwhile; to what I consider the key to successful networking.

As always, steal what resonates.

Don’t have time to read? Watch instead:

For context, I’ve lived in Austin 12 years. I didn’t show up during the pandemic migration. But I would be lying if I didn’t say I sometimes felt like a newbie who just got off the plane at ABIA. The start of my career was spent in the nonprofit bubble — frankly, I didn’t even know the startup / entrepreneurial world existed.

I had never heard of Capital Factory or, more so, understood just how much of an incubator this city is.

And shortly after I started freelancing, I spent all of my time in Facebook groups & communities because COVID had hit.
